If you're planning to park in Garden City, you'll need a permit which is only for Garden City residents. $100 a year.

I use Old Country Road station since they have free parking lot which have plentiful parking spots even after 10AM.
The free parking lot is about less than a quarter of a mile walk to the station though.

Consider taking a bicycle?

Mineola has a much faster commute but be prepared to have much more crowded trains.

I agree.

From Mineola, if often have to stand at least to Jamaica and sometimes all the way. From country life press, I get a seat.

Is the OP going to Penn or Atlantic Terminal?

I take the 7:42 train every morning from Mineola. No problem parking. 99% of the time I get a seat but it's usually sandwiched between other people. $6 adds up. If you have the time use the free lots on Franklin Avenue and walk.

Considering a move to Garden City and would be ~1 mile away from the station.
Or would driving to Mineola be a better option?
Thanks in advance!

Where exactly are you located mineola has more trains and there is a bus down Franklin that meets many trains at mineola.

That's because they won't allow the people who live in Stewart Manor to park in the Stewart Manor station that was built over the border in Garden City - the lots are empty because most Garden City residents have 3 other stations to park in closer to their home -Nassau Blvd, Country Life Press and near the Hotel but nobody in Stewart Manor has anywhere to park.

Which is the OCR station? And where is the free parking exactly? Thanks.

If you live in SM and need to drive to the station you are pretty darn lazy, but I had neighbors who drove so it doesn't surprise me.
